I thought I'd do an intro post about the efforts I've made to get more exercise...

They've sort of fallen by the wayside but maybe by joining this community I'll feel encouraged to do a bit more.

I was going to a gym but my gym buddy got pregnant (any excuse) and so couldn't go any more and I hated it with a firey passion on my own so I stopped doing that. Not before I'd signed up to run the http://www.raceforlife.org though which I completed on July 4th.

I was terribly proud because I'm a lazy baggage :) Since then I've done sod all exercise until the last week when we got a dance mat. I've just persuaded a friend of mine that it's a really good idea and so far it is, there are some good songs and an aerobic mode so you can see how many calories you're burning.

I'm hoping that by just doing a couple of tracks a day I'll get in to the habit of being more active and then when I go back to being thin classes in September life will be a bit easier for me.

Since coming back from the US, I have been variably jetlagged, exhausted, busy, and lazy.

There's a gym across the street, so Jon and I were thinking about joining. But we realized that the only equipment we really use besides the pool is the elliptical trainer.

So we bought one.

Today I got on it for the first time, and (with the help of The Teaches of Peaches) I managed 15 minutes on varying resistance levels. I'm quite pleased with that, since I haven't done much real exercise in about a month.

That's not quite true; I've done a lot of walking around London, but I haven't done anything that got me truly hot and sweaty. Sadly.

Current Mood: bouncybouncy
After a bit of a hiatus, I am continuing my Running Along Now. The original Run Along Now was over here, but in the spirit of moving my life to LiveJournal, I have created this blog as a new community (runalongnow).

This change, of course, has one distinct advantage: that if you have also found your second wind, you can join this community and tell the world about your progress.
